STEM Sundays #1
Welcome to #STEMSundays series 1!
Meet Jehron Petty, a native New Yorker, recent Cornell alumnus, and a 2019 Harvard SVMP alumnus. A computer science major by trade, with a strong passion for community development and outreach. Jehron spent his summers interning as a software engineer and product manager for Two Sigma and Google. During his time at Cornell, he served as Co-President for Underrepresented Minorities in Computing and as a teaching assistant. Within these roles, he was able to help better serve and impact the student body. Jehron realized he could reach students far beyond the walls of Cornell. Thus, he most recently started his own non-profit organization called ColorStack. ColorStack seeks to increase the entrance, retention, and success of Black and Latinx college students pursuing CS and CS-related majors within PWI’s. With passion and drive, Jehron has already helped establish ColorStack chapters across five schools, with plans to continue to expand. Instead of starting his career with Google as an Associate Product Manager, he recently told Google that he will be working on ColorStack full-time. Let’s congratulate Jehron on all of his hard work thus far and the impact he’s making to help better serve the underrepresented!
