STEM Sundays #10
Welcome to #STEMSundays Series 10!
Meet Simone Stinette, an Austin, TX native, 2018 Spelman Alumna, and 2020 Emory University Alumna. In undergrad, Simone was a biology major who was very active in the community. While at Spelman she was a peer health educator, research assistant, and program coordinator. She was also given the distinct honor of being a WEL Scholar. In addition, she is a servant of the community as she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Although she studied Biology in undergrad, Simone took a keen interest in the field of Public Health where she received her master’s degree this past spring. While at Emory, she was able to be a community assessment consultant at SisterLove, Inc., a graduate assistant through MotherToBaby Georgia, and a program consultant through the American Heart Association. Outside of being a scholar, Simone recently started her own personal blog dedicated to Behavioral Science and Public Health. How she describes her platform is: “Simone Says is my personal blog dedicated to Behavioral Science and Public Health. While a graduate student, I became acutely aware of the barriers between the world academia and the general public. Disadvantaged communities are often the subject of research studies, but are not included in the conversations aimed at creating sustainable solutions that fulfill their needs. As an advocate for the Black communities that raised me, I aim to change this. I created Simone Says as a space to present findings from my own small-scale research projects, share my opinions, and synthesize some of the more challenging concepts related to health and the Black experience.” Congratulations Simone on all of your accomplishments this far!
