STEM Sundays #6

Welcome to #STEMSundays Series 6!

Meet Erica Riddick, a native of Starkville, MS, 2018 Spelman Alumna, and 2020 Drexel Alumna. As a biology major at Spelman, Erica was destined to work in the medical field. During her summers Erica spent time doing research in prestigious pre-med programs. Some of these experiences include conducting research at Weill Cornell School of Medicine, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, West Point Pediatric Clinic, Johns Hopkins University, and GW Medical Faculty Associates. With summers of experience, Erica used her knowledge to help pay forward these opportunities to her community through community outreach programs. Erica spent time volunteering at homeless shelters, Boys and Girls Club of America and founded a STEM program for underprivileged kids interested in STEM. Outside of community activism, Erica is a proven scholar and leader serving as the Community Service Chair of the Spelman College Honors Program and the VP of Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor Society. She also has been inducted into two other pre-med/biology honor societies including Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society and Alpha Epsilon Delta Health Pre-Professional Society. In May of 2020, Erica received her Masters in Biomedical Studies from Drexel University. In the fall Erica will be pursuing her M.D. at Drexel University College of Medicine. Post-graduation Erica plans to practice primary care in minority communities to help decrease health disparities for people of color. Lets congratulate Erica on her accomplishments thus far!
